Best cabbage recipe ever!

Postby purple goddess on Thu Sep 11, 2008 12:54 pm

We got a half cabbage in our latest AFD delivery, and apart from cabbage rolls, Furry really isn;t a fan.

So last night I chopped it finely and sauteed it with an onion and some juniper berries in duck fat, until just wilted!

it was SUBLIME!!!

Served with a bone-in rib eye steak and some baked potatoes, also baked off in a little duck fat.

There's Furry's cholesterol portion for the months, but it was soooooo good!!

So good, I even wrote "An Ode to Duck Fat" about it!!!

Add Kaiserfleich, caraway and diced apple to what you did. Cook it off with a little apple juice.

Asian Coleslaw - dress with naam jim, add left over roast chicken or prawns, julienned cucumber, carrot & spring onion, coriander leaves, Thai basil, mint, crushed peanuts or almonds or toasted sesame seeds. You can even toss in some crunchy, crisp noodles.

Colcannon - blanch, add to mashed potato with spring onion and serve as is or fry as patties. Can add peas, pumpkin, whatever you have handy and turn it into Bubble and squeak. Serve with bangers or stew.

Bake julienned cabbage into scalloped potatoes.

Add to Borscht.
