Furry, bless his hairy little toes, has invited work colleagues of his over for dinner on Sat... down at Chez Fur...

Greek workmates, REAL LIVE GREEK PEOPLE!!!

REAL LIVE MIDDLE AGED PINCH-YOUR-CHEEK-AND-TELL-YOU-"YOU'RE TOO SKINNY"-GREEK-PEOPLE

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I have met these people once before, at a full-on Greek BBQ... with the spit and gyros and octopodi.. the whole shebang!!

And everything was gorgeous...and Greek!!

So, here's your challenge..

What the hell do I cook for REAL LIVE GREEK PEOPLE, WHO HAVE THEIR OWN SPIT ROASTING PIT AND PIZZA OVEN?????

So what did you make?

In my experience, Greek people love to eat Greek food and not much else ... except Chinese food. If you make Greek food for them they love it. Perhaps because they feel you are honouring their culture???

I ended up doing Greek with a twist..

In the end the me and you was:

Mezze:

dolmades, sun dried tommies, honey and ginger glazed shallots, green and black olives, baba ghanouz, tzatiki, home made pide, and pear, blue cheese, lemon thyme and caramelized onion tart.

Mains:

King Island lamb stuffed with fetta, anchovies and sundried tommies, with olive pesto stuffed tomatoes and baked tomatillos.

Asian schnapper.

Roasted lemon potatoes.

Pg's potatoes (done in duck fat with whole garlic cloves and rosemary)

steamed beans with oo and lemon juice and toasted slivered almonds.

Fresh asparagus with oo and black pepper.

Pasta Dura bread,

baklava and ginger and honey biscuits (I forget the greek name).

And the hit of the night was the tart!!

Will post photos when I find my camera uploading cord thingy!

Having seen that menu, I suspect the Furry one guessed his ever-loving missis would go all out and there would be great food... and boy was he ever right!! It sounded fab. And from experience I can say that a tart is always the hit of the night. Ahem, even when I was the tart...! :D
