Now that things are a little wetter and hopefully beginning to warm up, as well as a little more daylight at the end of the days, my little plot is finally getting some action. We had just a few weeks ago pulled out all our ox heart tomatoes. The didn't do so wel. we got these HUGE tomatoes, but with dramatic weather changes a good lot of them split and most of them were flowery. The guinea pigs got to eat plenty. We also had heaps of cute little truss tomatoes come up out of the compost. The sad part was, I had left most of them rot because I was still finding a balance between full time work, kids and all the other jobs a Mum has to do each day. The poor garden come last.
But now, both patches are going strong. plot one has broad beans growing to replenish the soil, as well as some slow growing crops like garlic, asparagus, strawberries and butternut pumpkins.
Plot two has just been planted with lettuce and beans. It looks like my last crop of snow peas have self sown because I have a few stray plants that look very much like snowpeas pop up. Nothing like munching on fresh snowpeas while sipping on a cold beer while watering the veges.
This weekend wil see me planting bug attracting flowers to increase pollination and I'm close to planting cucmbers, capsicums and I have a bag of kipfilers that have sprouted int he pantry. Just waiting for a full moon to plant those.
And I'm excited to say my lime tree has flowers and a couple of baby limes, my lemon tree is looking very happy and there are flowers swamping our little mango tree.
And one day I need to dust off the camera and start posting on my blog again.
